I'm afraid that my expression looks exactly like your son's when I start digging out pumpkin guts. Ugh.
Hey, have you ever heard of the pumpkin patch parable? We have the book, but I think there's a website (google it) that talks about how we're kinda like pumpkins...god cleans out our "insides" and puts His light in us for others to see.
You're probably aware of it, but if not...check it out!
M. and Jeremy carved pumpkins a couple of years ago. M. had the same expression as your guy. Except he was also making the gagging noises. Fun times. :o)
A side note to Merediths comment- All of Liz Curtis Higgs "season" books are great. We have Easter, Fall and Christmas and pull them out each year to read. The boys really enjoy them.

Oh, my girls were sooo disgusted when I put my hand inside to clean out our pumpkin. Great shot of his face!
