Our Trek - Day One (July 20)

On Friday, July 20th, we left our home in SE Alabama at 6 am. We were headed to my parents' home in Kansas City, Mo., which takes us 2 days to drive. We enjoyed the scenic views of Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky and Illinois. I especially liked seeing the farm lands, including some beautiful barns in rural Kentucky. Our excitement for the day happened during our stop for lunch. We ate lunch at a McDonalds in Cornersville, Tn. While there, our daughter pulled out her first loose tooth. She was very excited and wanted to call both sets of grandparents to let them know how fast she was growing up.
When we reached the O'Fallon, Il. area, we got caught in a traffic jam on the interstate. The traffic was at a complete standstill and it took us an hour to travel about 5 miles. While waiting in this long line of traffic, our 3 year old son said, "we are waiting in line for money." Now I don't know where he got that idea, but I sure would like to find that line!
That was all the driving we could take, so we stopped in O'Fallon to spend the night. We found a Days Inn to stay in which our daughter (5 years old), thought was named "Daisy Ann." We went for a swim in the indoor pool and had supper at Chevy's. My meal was fabulous. I had shrimp and crab enchiladas. Oh. My. YUM!
