...take matters into your own hands!
That's what my daughter did recently. She's been asking for a while for a short haircut. I couldn't bring myself to agree. I just knew that cutting her hair shorter would make her look so much older, and its really hard to admit my baby girl is no longer a baby! I also love her strawberry blond color and wanted her to have lots of it.
Anyway, a little while ago, she came to me and told me she'd cut her hair. I am ashamed to say, I hit the roof! We'd made it to age 7 without any hair cutting incident...I thought we had made it safely to an age where she understood not to do that. After I calmed down a little, she told me that she had been combing it, gotten the comb "stuck" and had to cut the comb out. I flipped out a little more exclaiming that she should have asked me to help her untangle the comb! Then, after I calmed down again, I took these pictures of her:
Poor girl! Do you see that distraught look on her face? I guess that's what happens when her Mommy flips out.
A few days later, we went to the hairdresser to correct the problem. My daughter was very excited to get a real haircut, and by that time I had calmed down and was a little excited myself.
Here she is getting the much wanted hair cut:
And here is the result:
After all the kicking and screaming I did in resistance to a hair cut, I must admit that I love her new 'do! Now I wonder...why did I get so worked up about this?

Cute 'do! :) We had a haircut incident early on (I don't think she was 4 yet) and thankfully haven't had one since!)
Her hair cut is adorable!
How funny! Your mom told me about the inevitable haircut. I would have flipped out too. :)
I think that's one incident that won't be quite so dramatic with boys! But she's so adorable with her new haircut!
I love her new haircut too! She looks so grown-up. She's a beautiful girl.
I can totally understand you reacting like that, though. I've done it before about other things that turned out to be no big deal after all. The good thing about hair is that if you don't like how it's cut, it will grow back out before too long.
Such a sweet haircut!
Love it, love it, love it. I have to admit, she does look older now.
I love the new cut. Looks like she likes it, too. And, I am sure it makes her feel good about her self. And, we all know how important that is!
She looks so grown up! What a cute hairstyle on her.
PS- I would have freaked out a bit too so do not be to hard on yourself.
I love her haircut! You're right though, it makes her look grown up.
Your trip sounds like it was a lot of fun. I love vacationing with family.
Hey, are you getting lots of rain? I keep thinking about you whenever they start talking about tropical storms and hurricanes!
