Please Tell Me...

Mer over at Life At 7000 Feet features a question each week to which she asks her readers to respond. I enjoy reading the responses she gets, because it's interesting to see what people think about various issues.

Perhaps it was a recent question of hers or perhaps it is a priority/time management conflict that occurs around here quite often, but I've been wondering about my purpose for blogging.

Since I'm pondering this right now, I thought I'd ask my blog friends for their thoughts.

Why do you blog?

Is it to keep in touch with people you don't see very often? Do you do it to showcase your talents and skills? Is it an outlet for your love of writing? Or is it a place to post your photography? Whatever your reason, I'd love to hear why you sit down in front of the computer periodically and publish a post.

I'll let you know more about what's going on in my head in a later post.

Well, I started blogging as a way for our family to keep up with us since they all live SO far away. Over the years the blog has taken on a life of it's own! I blog because it's a fun hobby, but at the basic level it's a way to document the daily-ness of our family life--sorta like an online scrapbook.

I decided to blog actually because of you. I felt like in the first time since we both married that I knew more about your day to day life (felt more in touch with you). So I thought it would be a good way for our out of town friends and family to know what we were up to on a regular basis.

Also since I do not scrapbook, this is scrapbook for our boys. I plan to put the posts in a book (http://www.blurb.com/create/book/blogbook).

At times I feel like I should have more of a purpose for my blog. But right now I have a peace about it being just about our daily life.

Glad you are home safely! :o)

I started Blogging because i loved to read about other people's lives and thought they MIGHT enjoy reading about mine. My kids make fun of me but truly, I have gained a LOT of wisdom and insight from reading Blogs! I also have a lot of friends and family out of town that I wanted to be able to keep up with.

I blog as a way of recording things that are important in my life. I do it for my boys, and any future grandchildren...so they may know what drives me and interests me. I find that I really enjoy writing, so I blog as a chance to practice the art of storytelling. I enjoy photography, and this is a great place to show what interests me enough to snap a pic. I blog, too, because there is so much going on in my head at the end of a day...I need somewhere to put it...and a blog just seems a wonderful place to me. Sort of a 'brain dump', if you will. And, I meet very nice people this way.

Ok, you got me started on this too! Thank you! The cooking and Bible Study blogs started due to others asking me to post publicly so they could use and share my recipes (esp. Demarle recipes)and the share the Bible studies with others. It has truly become such a special outlet for me. The Main blog, however, has become my well-contained scrapbook. I cringe to even admit that it is MLC's only scrapbook. Perhaps, I too will be able to bind the posts to a book someday as well. Thank you again, Leah, for inspiring me to do the blogging thing! Thank you also for your friendship!

Leah Belle,

Having a few little *issues* with my BLOG. I can't change the color of a few things...like the date at the top of each post...and it doesn't show up. Maybe my page needs to be brown with pink? Or white? When you have time, will you see what you can do???? I may end up being a pest:)
