The kiddos and I made a somewhat spontaneous trip this week to visit my grandparents. My grandfather who will turn 90 in December is in failing health, so I decided to join my sister and her family in visiting. The trip was a 10 hour drive for me and it was the first time I have ever driven that far on my own.
I am staying in my grandparents home while here. Every afternoon we go to visit Granddaddy in the hospital, and we have had some sweet times with him! It is amazing how many memories have surfaced while I have been here. The neat thing is that these sweet memories aren't of grand adventures or lavish parties. These memories are comprised of simple things like Granddaddy's chair, hikes around the farm and Grandmother's kitchen. The picture above captures how I will forever remember Grandmother: diligently working in her kitchen, showing love by serving her family.

I love that photo, very reminiscent of my own childhood memories - it really is the simple everyday moments that make a life. LOVE your photo!
I think that the older we get, the more we appreciate the 'sameness' in our lives. These everyday memories beome holy and beautiful beause they were done with love.
How wonderful that you were able to take off and go stay with them. These new memories will be precious, as well.
I love this photo so much...what a wonderful memory of your grandmother this is! :)
